Oneida County Contract With CNY SCPA For Animal Cruelty Invitation begins April 1st

Oneida County residents may contact the CNYSPCA Animal Cruelty Investigations Division, beginning April 1st, by calling CNYSPCA through their Animal Cruelty Hotline at 315-454-3469. Residents may also file an online complaint at www.crueltyinvestigations.org.  Residents can also file a complaint by visiting the CNY SPCA website at www.cnyspca.org or residents can call their local Police Departments. Residents can also find information for CNYSPCA through http://ocgov.net/E911.

Residents are asked to call Oneida County 911 in the case of an emergency only.

What is Cruelty to Animals:

The CNYSPCA Animal Cruelty Division handles all complaints regarding violations of Article 26 of the New York State Agriculture & Markets Laws.  Animal cruelty laws are listed as follows:                                     

A person who tortures or cruelly beats or unjustifiably injures, maims, mutilates or kills any animal, whether wild or tame, and whether belonging to himself or to another, or deprives any animal of necessary sustenance, food or drink, or neglects or refuses to furnish it such sustenance or drink, or causes, procures or permits any animal to be overdriven, overloaded, tortured, cruelly beaten, or unjustifiably injured, maimed, mutilated or killed, or to be deprived of necessary food or drink, or who wilfully sets on foot, instigates, engages in, or in any way furthers any act of cruelty to any animal,

What is NOT Animal Cruelty:

The CNYSPCA does not enforce Article 7 of the NY State Agriculture Laws.  This includes dangerous dog complaints or dog licensing.  Stray animals in your area should be reported to local municipalities or Animal Control.
