Oneida County Awarded for Best Technology Practices
County finishes in the 2017 Digital Counties Survey’s top 10
For the third year in a row, Oneida County has been named one of America’s top digital counties by the Center for Digital Government and the National Association of Counties.
Oneida County finished in the top 10 in the 150,000 to 249,000 population category in the 15th Annual Digital Counties Survey, which identifies best technology practices among counties nationwide.
“Once again, Oneida County is leading the way with our technology initiatives to streamline delivery of government services, encourage collaboration and shared services and enhance cybersecurity,” said Oneida County Executive Anthony J. Picente Jr. “This award is a testament to the hard work of our Central Services Department and all others involved in pushing our county toward technological advancements from the digitization of records and documents to fostering communication with the public through our website and social media.”
The survey results are based on the following characteristics that comprise Digital Counties:

• Efficient: Budget/Cost Control/ Performance Measures
• Resilient: Disaster Recovery/ Continuity of Operations
• Innovation and Best Practices
“Digital counties are leveraging technology to improve the ways they conduct business and engage with citizens in increasingly innovative and exciting ways,” said Todd Sander, executive director of the Center for Digital Government. “The Center for Digital Government congratulates this year’s winners for their work to reduce costs, encourage citizen engagement, increase efficiencies and proactively address citizen expectations.”
