Fox Tests Positive for Rabies in Town of Boonville

Oneida County Health Department Urges Residents to Recognize Signs of Rabies
A fox has tested positive for rabies in the Town of Boonville. The fox was sent to the New York State Department of Health Wadsworth Center Laboratory for testing on July 29, 2020 and positive results were reported on July 30, 2020. Two adults were exposed to the fox, and are receiving post exposure prophylaxis.

Raccoon Tests Positive for Rabies in Town of Kirkland

Oneida County Health Department Urges Residents to Recognize Signs of Rabies
A raccoon has tested positive for rabies in the Town of Kirkland. The raccoon was sent to the New York State Department of Health Wadsworth Center for testing on July 22, 2020 and positive results were reported on July 23, 2020.

Oneida County Health Department Announces Upcoming Rabies Vaccination Clinics

The Oneida County Health Department, in cooperation with the City of Rome and Towns of Annsville and Vienna, will hold the following upcoming rabies vaccination clinics:
July 27th Vienna Town Garage 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
August 7th Rome City Hall 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
September 21st Annsville Highway Garage 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Hepatitis A Confirmed in Employee at Rome Eatery

The Oneida County Health Department (OCHD) has learned that an employee of Taco Bell on Erie Boulevard West in Rome, has tested positive for Hepatitis A. This employee worked while infectious and may have exposed people who were patrons of the shop.
The Hepatitis A vaccine is effective if given within two weeks of exposure. The OCHD is alerting those who had consumed food prepared by the restaurant on the following dates and times to receive preventive treatment within 14 days of exposure.
June 24 – 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. – need vaccination by July 8
June 25 - 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. – need vaccination by July 9
June 29 – 6 p.m. to 10:40 p.m. – need vaccination by July 13
July 2 – 6 p.m. to 2:40 a.m. – need vaccination by July 16
July 3 – 6 p.m. to 3:45 a.m. – need vaccination by July 17

Cat Tests Positive for Rabies in Town of New Hartford

Oneida County Health Department Urges Residents to Recognize Signs of Rabies
A cat has tested positive for rabies in the Town of New Hartford.  The cat was sent to the New York State Department of Health Wadsworth Center for testing on July 2, 2020 and positive results were reported on July 3, 2020.  One adult had exposure to the cat and has received post exposure prophylaxis.

Oneida County Health Department Urges Residents to Recognize Signs of Rabies
A fox has tested positive for rabies in the Town of Lee. The fox was sent to the New York State Department of Health Wadsworth Center for testing on June 22, 2020 and positive results were reported the on June 24, 2020. One adult had exposure to the fox and has received post exposure prophylaxis.
