A bat has tested positive for rabies in the Town of Vienna. The bat was sent to the New York State Department of Health Wadsworth Center for testing and positive results were reported on Wednesday, June 10th. One child had exposure to the bat and received post exposure prophylaxis.

Employee Also Worked at LaRoma’s Camden Location
The Oneida County Health Department has learned of additional dates and times worked by a LaRoma’s Pizzeria employee who has tested positive for Hepatitis A.
In addition to the Rome establishment, the employee also worked at LaRoma’s of Camden located at 3 Harden Boulevard in Camden on April 30, 2020 and May 1, 2020.

The Oneida County Health Department has learned that an employee of LaRoma’s Pizzeria on 600 Floyd Avenue in Rome, has tested positive for Hepatitis A. This employee worked while infectious and may have exposed people who were patrons of the shop. The Health Department is alerting those who had take-out of the potential exposure.
The Hepatitis A vaccine is effective if given within two weeks of exposure. Those who consumed food prepared by the restaurant between April 27, 2020 and May 4, 2020 must receive preventive treatment within 14 days of exposure. To get a Hepatitis A vaccination, please contact your health care provider or contact the Health Department at 315-798-5747 and press 1 to make an appointment.

Oneida County Health Department Stresses Recognizing Rabies Indicators
A raccoon has tested positive for rabies in the Town of Whitestown. The raccoon was sent to the New York State Department of Health Wadsworth Center for testing on April 29, 2020, and positive results were reported the following day. One adult had exposure to the raccoon and received post-exposure prophylaxis.

Oneida County Health Department Urging Residents to Know How to Recognize the Signs of Rabies
A raccoon has tested positive for rabies in the Town of Sangerfield. The raccoon was sent to the New York State Department of Health Wadsw01ih Center for testing on Tuesday, March 17th, where positive results were reported the following day. Two adults and a dog had exposure to the raccoon. Both adults received post exposure prophylaxis. The dog was current with its rabies vaccination, and received a booster shot.
