Oneida County Health Department Urges Residents to Recognize Signs of Rabies
A raccoon has tested positive for rabies in the Town of Marcy. The raccoon was sent to the New York State Department of Health Wadsworth Center for testing on September 8, 2020 and positive results reported the following day. One person and two dogs had exposure to the raccoon. The person is receiving post exposure prophylaxis. The dogs were up to date on vaccinations and will get a booster.

A raccoon has tested positive for rabies in the Town of Westmoreland. The raccoon was sent to the New York State Department of Health Wadsworth Center for testing on August 19, 2020 and positive results were reported on August 20, 2020. Three dogs were exposed to the raccoon.

A skunk has tested positive for rabies in the City of Rome. The skunk was sent to the New York State Department of Health Wadsworth Center Laboratory for testing on August 10, 2020 and positive results were reported on August 11, 2020. One adult was exposed to the skunk, and is receiving post exposure prophylaxis.
Kitten Tests Positive for Rabies in City of Rome
Oneida County Health Department Urges Residents to Recognize Signs of Rabies
A kitten has tested positive for rabies in the City of Rome. The kitten was sent to the New York State Department of Health Wadsworth Center Laboratory for testing on August 6, 2020 and positive results were reported on August 7, 2020. Multiple adults and pets were exposed to the kitten, and are receiving post exposure prophylaxis.
