Hepatitis A Confirmed in Employee at Roma Sausage and Deli

The Oneida County Health Department (OCHD) has learned that an employee of Roma Sausage and Deli has tested positive for Hepatitis A. This employee worked while infectious and may have exposed people who were patrons of the shop.

Oneida County Hosting Flu Vaccination Clinics
The Oneida County Health Department will administrer flu vaccines between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Monday from now through March. Flu Vaccines will be administered by appointment only at the county Health Department's clinic located at 406 Elizabth St. in Utica. To Make an appointment, call 315-798-5747. Please do not schedule an appointment if you are currently in isolation or are quarantine;feel ill;have any COVID/flu symptoms or if you have had or plan to have a COVID vaccination within two weeks.

2 Animals Test Positive for Rabies in Oneida County

Oneida County Health Department Urges Residnets to Recognize Signs of Rabies
A raccoon has tested positive for rabies in the Town of Kirkland and a bat tested positive for rabies in Rome. Both animals were sent to the New York State Department of Health Wadsworth Center for testing on January 12, 2021 and positive results were reported on January 13, 2021.  A cat was exposed to the bat and received a booster. No people were exposed to either animal.

Cow Tests Positive for Rabies in Town of Trenton

Oneida County Health Department Urges Residents to Recognize Signs of Rabies
A cow has tested positive for rabies in the Town of Trenton. The cow was sent to the New York State Department of Health Wadsworth Center Laboratory for testing on October 15, 2020 and positive results reported the following day. Three people who were exposed to the cow are receiving post-exposure prophylaxis.

The event will take place from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on October 21, 2020 at the Deerfield Fire Station in Utica.

Oneida County to Host Car Seat Events as Part of Child Passenger Safety Week

Sessions Held on Sept. 23 & 30 in Utica
The Oneida County Health Department and the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office will be hosting two car seat safety events this month as part of Child Passenger Safety Week.
The first event will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on September 23, 2020 and the following event will be held from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on September 30, 2020. Both events will take place at the Deerfield Fire Station in Utica. Car seats will be available to income-qualified candidates by appointment only. For those already in possession of a car seat, a certified technician will be available to check that it is installed properly.
