Picente Statement on Presidential Visit

News Photo

“Yesterday, Oneida County was honored to have President Trump visit the cities of Rome and Utica.  A copious amount of planning went into coordinating this event and making sure everything went off without a hitch.  I would like to thank all of the local agencies for their outstanding efforts including Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol and his office, our county Departments of Emergency Services and Aviation, the Utica and Rome Police Departments, the State Police and Department of Transportation and all other law, fire and emergency crews that lent a hand.

“I would also like to thank the citizens of Oneida County for their patience and understanding with the closures and delays caused by the presidential visit and commend them for the civil demonstrations and respectful discourse that took place.  Our collective actions as a community made me very proud.

“In regards to the issue of expenses, it is the duty of Oneida County to participate in the protection of the President of the United States of America when he visits any part of our community.  Our public safety agencies do so with the utmost manner of honor and pride and always will.”
