High Winds and Snow to Hit Area Sunday

Oneida County Executive Anthony J. Picente Jr. has issued a travel advisory for Sunday morning and is urging residents to stay off of county lakes.

A combination of winds in access of 50 miles per hour and snow is forecast to move into the area on Sunday and is expected to cause white out conditions on both roadways and lakes.

“Visibility is expected to be poor because of these weather conditions and I am advising no unnecessary travel on our county roadways and urging our residents to stay off of all county lakes so as not to become stranded and imperil their lives and the lives of first responders,” Picente said.

The Oneida County Department of Emergency Services has been coordinating efforts with state officials, National Grid, New York State Electric and Gas and the National Weather Services in order to prepare for this weather event.

Picente’s travel advisory goes into effect Sunday morning and will continue until conditions improve.
