Oneida County Executive Anthony J. Picente Jr. today announced that applications for any component of the 2011-2012 Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) must be filed within the next 8 days. This includes regular, emergency, and heating equipment repair and replacement benefits.

In person applications will be accepted through close of business on Friday, April 13, 2012.  Mail-in applications postmarked on or before April 13, 2012 will be accepted and processed.  Phone applications initiated for regular HEAP on or before the close of business on Friday, April 13, 2012 will also be processed.

“Oneida County operates the HEAP program to help those facing difficulties with heating their homes, or paying for heat,” Picente said. “Although we know this was a light winter, we also know that families in tight financial circumstances that are eligible for HEAP should be accessing this funding. Eligible households have until April 13th to apply.  Low-income households that are not sure of eligibility should contact HEAP immediately to see if they can access HEAP benefits.”
