Oneida County Executive Anthony J. Picente, Jr. today announced that Oneida County Government will be supporting a regional service project aimed at helping needy veterans and their families.

“Oneida County will join the Mohawk Valley Regional Volunteer Center, other government and community partners from across the Region and across the Nation, in the September 11th National Day of Service and Remembrance.” Picente said. “The Service Project being undertaken by our region is targeted at the members of our communities who responded to the call of our nation.  We are collecting non-perishable food items to be donated to local organizations that serve the needs of our veterans.  I believe this is a very worthwhile and important community service project.”

Picente said that a drop-off box for non-perishable food items will be located at the Oneida County Public Market at Union Station, which is open Saturdays from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.
