Picente Attends Defense Community Summit In D.C.

Picente and Officials from Mohawk Valley Edge To Meet With Legislators on Local Issues.

Oneida County Executive, Anthony Picente and Mohawk Valley EDGE President, Steven J DiMeo will be attending the 2013 Defense Communities National Summit in Washington D.C. on June 12th through the 14th. The conference is an annual conference held by the Association of Defense Communities.

ADC unites the diverse interests of communities, state governments, the private sector and the military on issues of base closure and realignment, community-military partnerships, defense real estate, mission growth, mission sustainment, military privatization, military families/veteran support and base redevelopment.

County Executive Anthony Picente said “This conference will present an opportunity for us to hear new ideas and new approaches to moving Griffis forward as well as ways to expand and pursue Military development for the installations still on the Griffis Technology Park.”

Both Steve DiMeo and Anthony Picente will also meet with Congressman Hanna and Senators Gillibrand and Schumer about local issues including the Marcy Wetlands Permit, Economic Development opportunities and other local topics.

Anthony Picente went on to say “While in town we are going to take that time to meet with our Representatives here in D.C. and talk to them about the local needs here in Oneida County directly. We look forward to the dialogue with our partners in Washington.”
