Picente Announces Griffiss International Airport Milestone

1 Millionth Fresh Fuel Gallon Sold

Today County Executive Picente announced the 1millionth fresh fuel gallon sold this year. This is the first time that Griffiss has sold/dispensed 1 million gallons of fresh fuel we have met this goal ahead of projections. Through the combined efforts of Million Air and Griffiss International Airport Team, this milestone has been made possible.

County Executive Picente said of the milestone “We have always believed that Griffiss would be an economic engine in this community and that is what it has become. Between being designated as a UAS test Site as well as today’s unbelievable achievement we continue to see positive growth and development everywhere you look on this airport.”

Fuel has been dispensed in a variety of aircraft from Boeing 747, 767, 777, Dream Lifter, Airbus 319, Variety of General Aviation (GA) aircraft that includes Light fixed wing up to G5 jet class aircraft.  Additionally, the United States Air force C5, C17, UC-35, KC-10, C-9 and C130 fixed wing aircraft as well as U.S. Army Rotary wing, OH-58D, UH-60 and CH-47D & F Aircraft have been fueled at Griffiss.  In addition to these many aircrafts Griffiss and Million Air have also serviced Air Force 1 during a Presidential Visit earlier this year.

Aviation Commissioner Russell Stark wanted to thank Oneida County Executive Anthony Picente Jr., and the Oneida County Board of Legislatures for their continued support because without it, this and the other achievements met this year would not have been possible.  Commissioner Stark also wanted to thank the Griffiss Airport and Million Air staff’s, and the many tenants and customers that have made today’s goal a reality.

Sam D’Urso, Million Air General Manager Said “This is a huge milestone for the airport and the folks at Million Air are proud to be a part of it.”

Million Air began Operations in 2008 and has 13 employees.
