Picente Announces Child Abuse Prevention and Awareness Month

PROCLAMATION COUNTY OF ONEIDA, NEW YORK

WHEREAS: children are our greatest resource and deserve to grow up in surroundings that are safe and nurturing,

WHEREAS: victims of child abuse and neglect can suffer a lifetime of psychological, emotional and physical problems as a result of the harm that they have endured, child abuse and neglect impacts our entire society and our future,

WHEREAS: there are numerous individuals and organizations who are dedicated to the protection of our children and this group of people is only as good as those who choose to be a part of it,

WHEREAS: in ONEIDA COUNTY we recognize that together, as a community, we can reduce the number of victims of child abuse and neglect through increased public awareness and education, and that this prevention starts with each and every one of us,

WHEREAS: ONEIDA COUNTY encourages all of its citizens to join together in this worthwhile effort to save our children from future harm,

NOW, THEREFORE, I, ANTHONY J. PICENTE, JR.,

ONEIDA COUNTY EXECUTIVE,

DO HEREBY PROCLAIM THE MONTH OF

April 22nd, 2013, as:

Child Abuse Prevention and Awareness Month

And I urge all Oneida County citizens to come forward and help make a difference for our children today and forever.
