Picente and Board Of Elections Announce Voter Registration Drive

ROC2VOTE Initiative Aimed At Registering Voters County Wide

The Oneida County Executive along with the Oneida County Board of Elections announced at a press conference on Tuesday, that Thursday, May 15th, 2014 ROC2VOTE Day in Oneida County. ROC2VOTE is an initiative to register residents throughout the County.

County Executive Picente said of the initiative “This is exactly the type of proactive and forward thinking initiatives we have come to expect from our Board of Elections’ commissioners. Their responsibility goes beyond fair and impartial elections. It includes engaging the citizenry to take part in their essential civic duty. In Oneida County we need to register every potential voter because at the end of the day we aim to have an engaged and active citizenry who is invested in this community’s future.”

Board of Elections Commissioners Russell Stewart and Rose Grimaldi said “As Commissioners it is not only our responsibility to conduct fair and impartial elections but to reach out into the community to promote and encourage voter registration and participation. With the City, Towns and Village Clerks having registration forms at their offices and the ability to download a registration form from the Board’s website, we want residents to know that registering to vote is an easy process and that our office is available to offer assistance in any way that we can.”

Registration Drive Information:

The ROC2VOTE registration drive is planned for Thursday, May 15, 2014 between 10am and 2pm. BOE officials and volunteers from the League of Women Voters Utica-Rome will be available at the following locations with registration forms available to prospective registrants to fill out.

Rome

Rome City Hall – 198 North Washington Street

Utica

Oneida County Office Building – 800 Park Ave.
Mohawk Valley Community Action Agency – 1100 Miller Street
Utica City Hall – 1 Kennedy Plaza
Utica Community Health Center – 1600 Oneida Street

Forms will be available at your local town or village clerk’s office at all times.  Also, you may download a form from the Board’s website at ocgov.net/election.
