The New York State County Highway Superintendents Association (NYSCHSA) elected Oneida County Public Works Commisioner Dennis Davis president at its annual winter conference and tradeshow in Saratoga Springs last week.

“Our association provides tremendous value to our membership through training programs that enhance our professional development,” Davis said. “Advocacy and participation in the state legislative and budget processes to secure road and bridge funding is a critical part of our association’s mission and I look to build on these successful efforts.”

Davis was appointed Commissioner of Public Works for Oneida County in 2010. He began his employment with the county in June of 1980, holding various positions in the Highways, Bridges & Structure Division and was appointed Deputy Commissioner of the Division in August 1993. He also serves on the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure and the Climate Resiliency Committee for the New York State Association of Counties.

NYSCHSA is a non-profit organization whose county superintendents, public works commissioners and affiliate members have been gathering for over 100 years to share knowledge and experience, and to build professional networks and relationships. NYSCHSA works to enhance federal, state and local investment in transportation infrastructure to help ensure the continued safety and functionality of roads, bridges, culverts and other transportation assets to secure New York’s competitiveness for economic development and job creation.
