Frank Furno Steps Down After More Than 14 Years of Service

After serving more than 14 years as Oneida County Public Defender-Civil, Frank Furno has retired.

“It truly has been my pleasure to work with the county administration, the other professional department heads and the dedicated workers throughout County government in my call to serve the indigent in distress in our county family courts,” Furno said. “I leave my service satisfied and proud of what we have been able to do for our county.”

Furno was appointed to the position on Jan. 20, 2004, and during his tenure, the Public Defender-Civil Office saw its processed applications increase from approximately 1,500 per year to more than 3,000 per year.

Over the past year, Furno also oversaw the launch of the digitization of applications, case management and recordkeeping, which enabled the Public Defender-Civil Office to more efficiently and effectively serve the citizens of Oneida County.

“For the past 14 years Frank Furno has served the people of Oneida County admirably and his good work will long be remembered,” said Oneida County Executive Anthony J. Picente Jr.
