Oneida County Named Top Digital County

Oneida County, NY, has been named one of America’s top digital counties by the Center for Digital Government and the National Association of Counties. The survey identifies best technology practices among counties nationwide.

Oneida County’s District Attorney’s office recently became the first in the State of New York to go paperless. The county’s new Laserfiche system has streamlined court operations by:

  • Allowing staff to digitally retrieve records in court using laptops or tablets
  • Automatically identifying and emailing documents that need to be shared with defense attorneys
  • Integrating with the court’s case management system, where any record stored in Laserfiche can be accessed directly

“We are attempting to move into the digital age and ensure that documents and forms are handled and routed in the most efficient way possible,” said Anthony J. Picente, Jr., Oneida County Executive. “The end goal is to run government more effectively and to provide benefits and savings for agencies and taxpayers.”

“As the first county in New York to go paperless in its District Attorney’s office, Oneida County demonstrates how digital government can increase productivity at every level,” said Katie Burke, Government Program Strategist at Laserfiche. “Bringing digital automation to the courtroom will allow the county to serve justice with efficiency and transparency.”

Other Laserfiche users that were named top digital counties include: Albemarle County, CA; Cabarrus County, NC; Catawba County, NC; Charles County, MD; Chesterfield County, VA; Davidson County, NC; Durham County, NC; Fairfax County, VA; Gloucester County, VA; Hennepin County, MN; Jefferson Parish, LA; Leon County, FL; Loudoun County, VA; Mohave County, AZ; Nevada County, CA; Roanoke County, VA; San Bernardino, CA; Skagit County, WA; Tammany Parish, LA; Tompkins County, NY; and Ventura County, CA.
