Oneida County Executive Anthony Picente Elected to Statewide Executive Leadership Team

Oneida County Executive Anthony Picente was elected to serve as 2^nd Vice President of the New York State Association of Counties (NYSAC) by county delegates from across the State at the NYSAC annual meeting last week.

“County Executive Picente brings thoughtful leadership and experience to our executive team,” said NYSAC President Mary Pat Hancock. “Tony has a unique understanding of the challenges counties are facing and he will bring that understanding to his new leadership position on the board.”

“New York’s counties are facing unprecedented challenges in governing and we are fortunate to have County Executive Picente dedicating his experience, leadership, and commitment on NYSAC’s governing body,” said NYSAC Executive Director Stephen Acquario.

NYSAC is an 85-year-old bi-partisan municipal association that represents all of New York’s 62 counties, including the City of New York and its five boroughs.

“It is an honor to serve New York’s counties through this important leadership post,” said Mr. Picente, who has served on the NYSAC Board of Directors since 2008. “NYSAC plays an important role in advocating in Albany for the needs of counties and local taxpayers. During these difficult fiscal times, NYSAC is more important than ever.”

County Executive Picente was first elected to the position of Oneida County Executive in November of 2008. He is a strong advocate for counties’ role in strengthening public safety, ensuring fiscal responsibility, shoring up core infrastructure and improving economic development.

The New York State Association of Counties is a bipartisan municipal association serving the counties of New York State including the City of New York. Organized in 1925, NYSAC’s mission is to represent, educate and advocate for member counties and the thousands of elected and appointed county officials who serve the public.
