2016 Stop DWI High School Baseball Classic

A few rain drops couldn’t dampen the opening ceremony for the 5th annual STOP DWI BASEBALL CLASSIC, which was played April 29th and 30th at Murnane field in Utica.  All ten participating teams where on the field, as a moment of silence was held for 2013 Oneida HS Graduate Kane Buss, who was killed by a drunk driver, as he exited Destiny Mall, January 18, 2015.  As always, the Classic ran in conjunction with the Oneida County STOP DWI’s Teen Traffic Safety Education Program that is presented to Oneida County High School students prior to the prom, senior ball and graduation season.  The goal of the classic is to expand our mission of educating youth and our community on the dangers of making destructive decisions.

The two day event was attended by 1600 people, 7,400 through five classics. Those in attendance, along with the participating teams took advantage of the outstanding educational presentations by our educational partners: The NYS Police, the Oneida County Sheriff’s Dept, DOT Insight House, Center for Family Life and Recovery, and the Oneida County Health Department.
