2017 Sidewalk Art Contest

The 9^th Annual Sidewalk Art Contest was held at Oneida County municipalities and youth serving agencies the week of July 3^rd 2017. Children in age specific categories; 5-7, 8-10, 11-13 and 14-18 had the opportunity to draw a positive image on a single sidewalk slab with chalk donated from Walmart and Target.

This year 1,200 youth county-wide participated hoping to reach the finals that were held Thursday, July 13th on the sidewalks that encompassed Pratt at Munson-Williams-Proctor on State Street in Utica. The finals competition had 63 youth compete. Medals were presented to the top three (3) finishers in each age category.

“The kids artistic abilities and positive self-expressions were beautifully designed for all to be amazed,” Oneida County Youth Bureau Director Kevin Green said. “The kids decorated the sidewalk with pride, a lot of creative thought, and their energy was refreshing. This event would not be possible without the support of our fantastic partners; Walmart, Target and Munson-Williams-Proctor Art Institute. Our partners give the youth of Oneida County an opportunity to experience one of the crown jewels in Oneida County, Munson-Williams-Proctor Art Institute,” Green added.

Please mark your calendars for the week of July 2nd through July 6th, 2018 and plan on having your agency, city, town or village participate in our 10th Annual Sidewalk Art Contest. The finals will be held the following Thursday, July 12th. The event is free.
