Fox That Attacked Residents in Rome Captured & Confirmed Rabid
A fox that attacked multiple residents in the City of Rome last week has been captured and tested positive for rabies. The fox was sent to the New York State Department of Health Wadsworth Center for testing on Jan. 16 and positive results were reported on Jan. 17. Four people were exposed to the fox and have received post exposure prophylaxis.

A fox has attacked three people in the City of Rome today, specifically west along the Mohawk River and east of Black River Boulevard. This fox is still loose, and there is a risk that it may attack others. The Rome Police Department has been contacted and is attempting to locate the animal.
