Picente: Oneida County Utilizing Social Media to Recruit Employees
Oneida County Executive Anthony Picente Jr. today announced that Oneida County’s Personnel Department will be using Facebook and Twitter to post new employment opportunities.
The sites will provide updates and information on Civil Service Examination announcements. Civil Service lists established from examination results are used to fill job vacancies for Towns, Villages, School Districts, BOCES, Authorities and MVCC in addition to County Government. Postings will still be available on Oneida County’s web site at OCgov.net/Oneida/Personnel, or by stopping in to the Oneida County Department of Personnel. The Department is located on the 6th floor of the Oneida County office building, 800 Park Ave., Utica.
Oneida County Executive Anthony J. Picente Jr. said, “We are always looking to hire from the broadest range of applicants as possible, so that we can fill our departments with competent, qualified individuals. This is yet another tool to provide us with the ability to accomplish this goal. It is our hope that we will see the number of individuals applying for and testing for positions increase. We have also been making efforts to reach a more diverse population and feel this will help move us forward.”
Oneida County Personnel Commissioner John P. Talerico said, “This is a way for our department to stay on the forefront of employee recruitment. While our positions are always posted on our website, we felt that we could be missing qualified applicants, and that this could potentially fill that gap.”
The postings will begin on the 4th of January. You can follow Oneida County Personnel on Twitter @OneidaCountyCS, and on Facebook by “Liking” our page, Oneida County Civil Service
