Canned Food Drive/Dress Down Day for County Employees Will Be May 20th In Honor of Armed Forces Day and Memorial Day

Oneida County Executive Anthony J. Picente Jr. announced that in honor of Armed Forces Day and upcoming Memorial Day there will be a dress Down Day this Friday, May 20th to support the Central New York Veteran's Outreach Center food pantry. Employees that bring in 2 non-perishable food items will receive a red, white & blue bracelet and can wear jeans on Friday, May 20th.

County Executive Picente said “Our Veterans have earned the support of their community, especially those that are in need. This is something we can do to help assist the food pantry at the Veteran’s Outreach Center so our Veterans won’t be in a situation to go hungry. County employees continue to be generous and charitable and I appreciate their support in this endeavor. I urge the public to join us in our effort and donate to the food pantry at the Veteran’s Outreach Center.”

CNY Veteran’s Outreach Center Director Vincent Scalise said Operating a food pantry six days a week is very challenging and the only way we are able to meet the need is thru drives such as this. Without the help of the citizens of this area many people would go hungry. Thank you"

Anyone in the general public who would wish to donate to the CNY Veteran's Outreach Center can bring items to 726 Washington Street Utica, NY 13502, Monday through Saturday 8am to 4pm or visit the website at http://cnyvoc.org/donate/.
