Oneida County Executive Anthony J. Picente, Jr., announced today that the flags at all Oneida County buildings will be lowered to half-staff through Friday in honor of former Oneida County employees William Calli and Richard Edwards, who recently passed away.

William, or Bill as he was called by most, served as County Attorney for Oneida County from 1980-1992. He was also a member of the New York State Assembly and State Senate in the 1960s. In addition, he was very active in the community where he served as a member of the board of directors for a number of community agencies.

Richard Edwards, or Dick as he was called by most, served as Commissioner of Social Services and Executive Assistant to County Executive John Plumley. He had a 29 year career in the United States Army and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel. Dick was an avid outdoorsman and was also a member of the NRA, Life Member of the Order of the Purple Heart, and Life Member of the Disabled American Veterans.

“I had the honor of working with both of these individuals,” Picente said. “They were dedicated public servants and worked every day to make this community a better place to live. We will be lowering the flags this week to honor Bill and Dick and their service to this community.”
