Oneida County COVID-19 Weekend Update for May 24, 2020

Campground Reopening

Per Governor Cuomo’s order today, all permitted campgrounds in Oneida County will be allowed to open on May 25, 2020. For those campgrounds that are not yet permitted for the year, the Oneida County Health Department will begin to expedite that process on May 26, 2020.

The recommended guidelines for reopening are as follows:

  • All common recreation areas of the property, including but not limited to community rooms, pools, communal dining areas, and campfire pits, should remain closed.
  • Campers shall be encouraged to utilize their own self-contained bathroom facilities when available.
  • Toilet facilities, as per 10 NYCRR, Subpart 7-3, are required and must be cleaned hourly with a cleaning log maintained in the bathroom facility.
  • Each camping site should be a minimum of 2,500 square feet.
  • Campers shall be advised that if they exhibit COVID-19 symptoms they should immediately contact their healthcare provider and inform campground management. Management shall make every effort to keep this information confidential.
  • Campers that become symptomatic must be directed to self-isolate and immediately call their healthcare provider.
  • Campers must follow all Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines for social distancing, including maintaining a distance of six feet from other campers.
  • Campers over the age of two and able to medically tolerate a face-covering should be required to cover their nose and mouth with a mask or cloth face-covering when unable to maintain, or when not maintaining, social distance.
  • Only registered campers should be allowed onto the property, no visitors should be allowed access.

Here are the Oneida County COVID-19 case numbers as of 12 p.m.

  • 26 new positive cases, 876 total.
  • 1* new positive fatality, 39 total. *(occurred at a nursing home facility)
  • 35 patients are hospitalized in Oneida County.
  • 3 are admitted outside of Oneida County.
  • 344 active positive cases
  • 493 positive cases have been resolved.
  • 7,608 total tests have been conducted.
  • 87 results pending.
  • 6,645 total negative results.
  • 963 under mandatory quarantine.
  • 845 under precautionary quarantine.
  • 8,987 total have been discharged from mandatory and precautionary quarantine.
