Oneida County Accepting Pre-Registration for Comorbidity Vaccination

Data Collection Tool Will Assess Demand, Does Not Secure Appointment

County Executive Anthony J. Picente Jr. announced today that preregistration for those with comorbidities in Oneida County is now being accepted for county-operated vaccination sites.

The preregistration will serve as a data collection tool for the county to determine the number of residents with comorbidities and to provide a means for the county to potentially reach out directly to those individuals when appointments become available at the county-operated sites at Mohawk Valley Community College in Utica and Griffiss International Airport in Rome.

Pre-reregistering as a resident with a comorbidity does not secure an appointment for vaccination.

“Those with comorbidities are among the most vulnerable to COVID-19 and it is important that they are prioritized for vaccination,” Picente said. “However, the inadequate amount of vaccine we are given by New York State will not cover them all. This pre-registration tool will allow us to assess the full demand among this population and to reach them when vaccination is available and help those in need in Oneida County to secure an appointment.”

County residents with comorbidities can pre-register here.

While pre-registering does not secure a vaccination appointment at a county-operated site, the county may draw from the list to schedule appointments for those with comorbidities in the future. The limited supply of vaccinations means this process will likely take several months. Please be patient and check regularly for updated information. Those eligible are also able to schedule a vaccination appointment on their own when they are posted to www.ocgov.net, or at any other non-county-operated vaccination site.

An appointment is always required to be vaccinated. Vaccine supply remains limited at this time and demand is high. Appointments fill up very fast. Those visiting a vaccine site without an appointment and the appropriate verification of eligibility, will not receive a vaccine.

Comorbidity conditions became eligible for vaccination on Feb. 15. Adult New Yorkers of any age with the following conditions qualify for the vaccine:

• Cancer (current or in remission, including 9/11-related cancers).
• Chronic kidney disease.
• Pulmonary Disease, including but not limited to, COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease), asthma (moderate-to-severe), pulmonary fibrosis, cystic fibrosis and 9/11 related pulmonary diseases.
• Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities including Down Syndrome.
• Heart conditions, including but not limited to heart failure, coronary artery disease, cardiomyopathies or hypertension (high blood pressure).
• Immunocompromised state (weakened immune system) including but not limited to solid organ transplant or from blood or bone marrow transplant, immune deficiencies, HIV, use of corticosteroids, use of other immune weakening medicines, or other causes.
• Severe Obesity (BMI 40 kg/m2), Obesity (body mass index [BMI] of 30 kg/m2 or higher but < 40 kg/m2).
• Pregnancy
• Sickle cell disease or Thalassemia.
• Type 1 or 2 diabetes mellitus.
• Cerebrovascular disease (affects blood vessels and blood supply to the brain).
• Neurologic conditions including but not limited to Alzheimer's Disease or dementia.
• Liver disease
