Summary:  Youth helped spread recycling awareness school wide through creating posters and displaying them throughout the school.

Youth volunteers built a float and entered the float in Utica’s Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade. The volunteers enjoyed building the float and participating in the parade.

On April 25th youth volunteers from the Underground Café volunteered their time to clean senior citizen’s yards that no longer can physically do the work or financially afford to have the work done in Oneida County’s Annual Intergenerational Spring Clean-Up.

One World Flower Festival - unites residents, businesses, and organizations in Utica's Oneida Square.  Students helped paint globes and various other artworks that were displayed in the community and exhibitions.

Youth volunteers spent many hours promoting the Annual Build-A-Bike event and on June 20th they tagged the bicycles, assisted mechanics, helped children select bikes and helped fit the children with new helmets during the Build-A-Bike event.

Youth volunteers volunteered their time on October 25th to once again, clean senior citizen’s yards in Oneida County’s Annual Intergenerational Fall Clean-Up.

Pancake Day, November 10th - 7 of the Underground Cafe girls group cooked pancakes for other students and their families in efforts to give back to their fellow peers for 2 hours.

Youth volunteers moved tables, etc., to help set up for the Annual Cornerstone Church Black Friday Sale.

Students created holiday cards to be distributed to patients at Saint Lukes Hospital for the holidays.

Utica Safe Schools has a commitment to ensure a sense of civic pride and responsibility in the youth we serve to better connect them to their community and to help them understand the importance of giving back to the community that has been so giving to them.
