WELCOME TO THE NEW YORK REGIONAL IMMIGRATION ASSISTANCE CENTER, REGION 2 |
![]() |
The Region 2 Immigration Assistance Center is located in Rome, NY and affliated with the Oneida County Public Defender, Criminal Division. There are 6 RIACs across New York State which were created by a grant offered by the New York State Office of Indigent Legal Services. We, at Region 2, provide training, technical assistance and other legal support to 16 counties located throughout the Central New York region. | |
Similarly, attorneys must also consider advising noncitizen clients, in Family Court, whose immigration status may directly impact such life-altering decisions as child custody, visitation, adoption, and termination of parental rights. Attorneys representing clients in criminal and family court proceedings should contact RIAC2 as soon as possible in order to obtain the legal support necessary to navigate any potential immigration consequences that may arise from a criminal or family court matter. With the information obtained from attorneys, we will provide specific advice regarding immigration consequences of a plea or admission as to Deportability, Inadmissibility and Future Applications (e.g. Green Card, US Citizenship). Our staff consists of two full-time attorneys, who specialize in Criminal Defense and Immigration Law, and a full-time paralegal. |
