Boonville Fair Will Host Community Health Festival

“Excellus and Health Department Partner for Event”  

Oneida County – Boonville Fair goers will again be feted to free health screenings, demonstrations and health education as part of this year’s premiere summertime event, Oneida County Executive Anthony J. Picente, Jr. announced today. 

“Through the generous support of Excellus BlueCross BlueShield, the annual Community Health Festival will be held in conjunction with the fair,” Picente said. “Excellus’ community spirit once again makes it possible for the Oneida County Health Department to organize an event that brings together dozens of area health providers and community wellness agencies offering health education and services to a rural segment of our community at no charge.”

The festival will be held on Wednesday, July 28th from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM in a large tent erected on the fairgrounds. Fair organizers will offer reduced admission prices and ride specials at the Mid-way until 4:00 PM on the day of health festival.  As many as 40 vendors are expected to be on hand to offer free health screenings and provide educational materials on a variety of health topics and services.
Among the programs and services to be offered by the Oneida County Health Department at the festival, there will be free bicycle helmets, free cancer screenings through the Cancer Services Program’s and Lead Primary Prevention.
Vendors interested in taking part in the health festival are urged to contact Ken Fanelli at the Oneida County Health Department by calling 798-5099 or faxing him at to reserve a table. There is no cost, but space is limited and tables will be reserved on a first-come, first-serve basis.
This year’s Oneida County-Boonville Fair runs from Monday, July 26th through Sunday, August 1st.
