Oneida County Executive Anthony J. Picente, Jr. today issued a proclamation in honor of Utica College Class of 2010 Valedictorian Lauryn Donovan, noting her home-grown success story.
“Lauryn Donovan has brought pride to her family, her friends and her community by graduating from Utica College as its valedictorian with a 4.0 average, building upon an exceptional academic record she achieved while she attended Utica’s Thomas R. Proctor High School,” Picente said. “Lauryn Donovan credits the support of her family as a major part of her success, reflecting an understanding of the importance of strong bonds and support in any achievements.”
In honoring Donovan, Picente noted that although her 4.0 average and her class standing made her unique, success is not a stranger to Oneida County’s many outstanding students. “Lauryn Donovan is among the many young people from Oneida County who has found an outstanding education at the high-quality colleges that are such a major factor in shaping the quality of life in this region,” he said.
Picente noted that the strong ties of family and friends will always connect Donovan to the Utica area. “Lauryn Donovan will be pursuing further education as a stepping-stone to a business career, knowing that her roots here in the Utica area are strong. Whatever lies ahead for her in other places, she will always have the support of her family and friends in Utica,” he said.
