Picente: DPW Commissioner Williams Retiring; Davis to Lead Department of Public Works

Oneida County Executive Anthony J. Picente, Jr., today announced that Oneida County Commissioner of Public Works, John J. Williams has retired, affective January 1, 2010, and that Deputy Commissioner Dennis Davis has been chosen as the new Commissioner.

“Jack Williams has done an outstanding job for the people of Oneida County throughout his many years of service to this County,” Picente said. “Jack began his service the people of this County in 1978 when he was elected a County Legislator. Throughout his years as a Legislator he served and was Chair of the Public Works Committee, was Chairman of the Ways and Means Committee and also served as Chairman of the Board until 1996 when he was appointed Public Works Commissioner. Jack will be greatly missed after all his years of faithful service.”

Dennis Davis began his employment with Oneida County in June of 1980, holding various positions in the Maintenance Division. He was appointed Deputy Commissioner in August of 1993. 
“Dennis Davis has almost 30 years of experience with Oneida County and has represented the County well in all positions,” said Picente. “He has demonstrated his ability to handle the issues regarding Public Works and I feel he is more than qualified to fill this position.”
The appointment will be sent to the Oneida County Board of Legislators for approval.
Anthony Milograno, Director of Central Services and Fred VanNamee, Director of Emergency Services have also retired affective January 1, 2010.
