Oneida County Executive Anthony J. Picente, Jr., today announced the finals of the Oneida County Youth Bureau’s “Sidewalk Art” competition held Thursday July 23rd, 10:30 am, on the sidewalks of State Street in front of Pratt at Munson William Proctor Institute in Utica, New York.
“Sidewalk Art”, which was made available to all county municipalities and youth serving agencies, is a first time initiative for Oneida County youth ages 5-18. Artwork is done with sidewalk chalk on a single sidewalk slab. Children compete in age specific categories; 5-7, 8-10, 11-13 and 14-18.
“This Sidewalk Art competition continues the Oneida County Youth Bureau’s mission of providing safe, positive and innovative programming to all the youth of Oneida County,” Picente said. “We work diligently to develop programs that involve all our youth and provide them the stage to showcase their talents. Oneida County has some of the most beautiful venues for the arts and we want our children to experience and appreciate them while encouraging their creativity and nurturing their imaginations.”
After the competition all the finalists were treated to a tour of Munson William Proctor Art Institute.
