Picente: County Helps Job-Seekers Find Parking While Looking for Work at Working Solutions in Utica

Oneida County Executive Anthony J. Picente, Jr. today announced that Oneida County has arranged for Oneida County residents coming to Utica’s Working Solutions office in the State Office Building to park for up to three hours in city of Utica-operated open parking lots, such as the one on Union Street right across from the State Office Building in Utica.

“One of the very important services offered at Working Solutions is a two-hour seminar that helps people who have lost jobs learn about other options and the types of training that are available for those careers,” Picente said. “We want our job seekers to be able to attend the seminars without needing to worry that they will be getting parking tickets, or that they will not be able to find parking near the building.”
Picente said that Working Solutions customers who use the city’s open lots will have their parking ticket stamped at Working Solutions. The parking agreement between the County and the City of Utica Division of Off-Street Parking only covers the city’s open parking lots, not its parking garages.
“This new parking agreement between the County and the City is one more way we are reaching out to do everything we can to help the people of Oneida County who have been impacted by the global economic downturn,” Picente said. “I strongly encourage men and women who are looking for work to visit Working Solutions to learn about the ways that Recovery Act funds can help them access training, and to learn how they can take the skills they have and move their lives in a new direction.”
