PICENTE:  COUNTY TO OPERATE TRAINING PROGRAMS AT UTICA'S GILLMORE VILLAGE, OTHER MHA SITES
Oneida County Executive Anthony J. Picente, Jr., today announced that Oneida County ’s Office of Workforce Development will be providing computer training, counseling and job placement services to residents of Gillmore Village and other Utica Municipal Housing Authority facilities.

PICENTE:  SOCIAL SERVICES EMPLOYMENT PLAN SUBMITTED
Oneida County Executive Anthony J. Picente, Jr., and Oneida County Department of Social Services Commissioner Lucille Soldato announced today that the Oneida County Department of Social Services has submitted to New York State Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance the draft Oneida County Temporary Assistance and Food Stamp Employment Plan for January 1, 2008 - December 31, 2009.

As the cold weather heating season begins, Oneida County Executive Anthony J. Picente, Jr., today reminded area homeowners who purchase firewood of the state regulations that govern firewood sales.

Oneida County Executive Anthony J. Picente, Jr., today reminded retailers and shoppers that Oneida County’s combined sales tax rate will drop as of December 1st to 8.75%.

ONEIDA COUNTY TEEN ASSESSMENT PROJECT (TAP) REPORT SHOWS TEENS ARE DOING BETTER
The 2007 Oneida County Teen Assessment Project (TAP) Report shows that overall, local teens are doing better.  They are participating less in risky behaviors and are making more informed choices when compared with the teens in 2003 and 1999.  Oneida County Executive Anthony J. Picente, Jr., and Oneida-Herkimer-Madison BOCES District Superintendent Howard Mettelman held a joint news conference today to announce the release of report.

Oneida County Executive Anthony J. Picente, Jr., today announced that Oneida County will upgrade community safety in five areas of Oneida County through grants designed to address important security needs identified by community and Fire Department officials.

PICENTE ANNOUNCES FUNDING FOR SAUQUOIT FIRE DEPARTMENT
Oneida County Executive Anthony J. Picente, Jr., today announced that the Sauquoit Volunteer Fire Department is being awarded a $2,987 grant to buy a vital piece of rescue equipment that can assist firefighters in freeing victims trapped in collapsed buildings,  automobile wreckage, or the debris of collapsed bridges.

PICENTE, JULIAN ANNOUNCE MAJOR NEW EFFORT TO PREVENT LEAD POISONING IN UTICA
Oneida County Executive Anthony J. Picente, Jr. and Utica Mayor Timothy J. Julian today announced that the Oneida County Health Department’s Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Program has been awarded a $273,556 “Primary Prevention of Lead Poisoning Pilot Project” grant from the New York State Department of Health to protect children under the age of six from lead poisoning.
