Picente: Flags at Half-Staff to Honor Williams

Oneida County Executive Anthony J. Picente, Jr., announced today that the flags at all Oneida County buildings will be lowered to half staff through Friday in honor of John J. Williams. John, or Jack as he was known by many, served for over 17 years as a legislator on the Oneida County Board of Legislators. He later became Chairman of the Board, and served in this capacity from 1991 until 1996. Jack also served as Oneida County Commissioner of Public Works until his retirement last year.

“Jack Williams served this community for many years,” Picente said. “He was a dedicated legislator, always looking out for the best interest of his constituents. This hard work and dedication were recognized by his colleagues on the Board of Legislators as well, where he served as Chairman of the Board for a number of years. Jack was also well respected as Commissioner of Public Works, by both employees and residents alike. We will be lowering the flags this week to honor Jack and his service to this community.”
