 Picente Announces The 2009 Miles for Meals Jingle Bell Fun Run and Walk Saturday December 5th 2009

Oneida County Executive, Anthony J. Picente, Jr. today announced that Saturday December 5th marks the 13th Annual Miles for Meals Jingle Bell Fun Run and Walk. This event is sponsored by the Roman Runners, Rome Family YMCA and International House of Pancakes will once again donate proceeds to the Office for the Aging/Continuing Care Senior Nutrition Program. 

 The Miles for Meals Jingle Bell Fun Run and Walk is an amazing annual event and I want to thank all of the sponsors for making this happen,” Picente said. “The Office for the Aging/Coninuing Care Senior Nutrition Program is so important to the seniors of our County and it is because of events like this that we are able to keep running this exceptional program.” 

Following the 1-mile walk and 5K run, there will be a free pancake breakfast sponsored by the International House of Pancakes (IHOP) for all participants and volunteers. The 5K run starts at 9:00 a.m. and the 1 mile walk at 9:05 a.m. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. at the Rome Family YMCA 301 W. Bloomfield Street Rome. Registration is $25.00 before November 30th and $30.00 after December 1st and the day of event. The purpose of Miles for Meals is to raise pledges and awareness for the Senior Nutrition Program. The Office for the Aging Senior Nutrition Program serves approximately 1500 county wide individuals through both the congregate dining and home delivered meal program (Meals on Wheels). For those eligible, meals are available at a suggested donation of $2.00 for congregate meals and $2.50 for home delivered meals.
